Completely reinvented and a 2017 IBEX Award Winner, the all-new Yamaha F25 is the lightest 25-horsepower outboard on the water—two stroke or four stroke. In fact, it’s SOHC 2-cylinder design creates a power-to-weight that’s not only class-leading; it’s category-jumping, taking on Portable performance advantages. Once that sinks in, you’ll realize it means 25 horses can boldly go where they’ve never gone before. Jons. 14-foot aluminum fishing boats. The bed of your truck. While its streamlined design is up to 25 percent lighter, it still manages to pack in exciting new features—like battery-less EFI and an optional electric start kit. The completely reimagined Yamaha F25 Portable four stroke. It’s one of the most exciting outboards to hit the water in years.
The all-new F25 Portable four stroke features a Single Overhead Camshaft, 2-cylinder powerhead, for a compact design that weighs in at only 126 pounds. That gives it the best power-to-weight ratio of any 25-horsepower outboard on the water—two stroke or four stroke.
The F25 design features two-valves-per-cylinder and a single overhead camshaft, making it the lightest 25-horsepower outboard on the water. This also means better breathing and more power.
The F25's electronic fuel injection system provides smooth running and greater fuel efficiency than the previous F25. And the system operates without a battery, thus reducing weight so if you want to go light, you can. The New F25’s battery-less system was designed to require minimal effort for manual starting through an auto decompression device and a short pull. (A battery is required for electric-start capability.)
Compare the more compact profile of the F25C vs. the F25B. At 126 pounds, it is 25 percent lighter than the F25B. This weight reduction, along with new carry handles means portability in the 25-horsepower class.
The F25C also out-accelerates its predecessor, the F25B. In fact, it’s not only quicker, it’s faster. The F25C bests the F25B in every measure.*
*Testing conducted by Yamaha at Yamaha’s US Test Facility on a G3 Model 1448 under heavy load conditions.
The F25’s SOHC, 2-cylinder design, optimally balanced crankshaft and labyrinth exhaust deliver smooth power, and its Microcomputer Ignition adjusts timing to maintain optimal engine performance, economy and power under all conditions.
The new F25C outperforms the traditional Yamaha 25-horsepower two stroke. So it’s the perfect power for 14- to 16-foot aluminum boats and similar craft.*
Whether you have a manual or an electric, you can count on reliable starts. The new F25 features a no-battery-required Electronic Fuel Injection for easy starts and even lighter weight. In addition, all but one electric-start model features a through-cowling pull start, and there’s now an electric start kit for retrofitting manual models. To make starting even easier, there is an easy start decompression device.
The F25 features an external oil draining system, making for easy maintenance, by the boater or the dealer.
The 25 hp is up to 25 percent lighter than its previous design, but that isn’t the only thing that makes it portable. It now features built-in carry handles, resting pads, a folding tiller handle and an easy oil retention system. This allows for easy carrying and storage on its side, without oil leakage.
The F25 has a shortened tiller handle for convenient control of small jon boats. It features our Variable Trolling RPM Switch(VTS®), that allows for precision adjustment of trolling speeds from 750 to 1050 RPM in 50-RPM increments. It even offers sub-idle trolling up to 150 RPM below normal idle speed.
The F25 features an alternator that produces up to 16 amps of power. That’s more than enough electrical power for battery charging, with plenty left to spare.
Through cowling pull start is standard on most electric start models.
All control features are located on the tiller handle for convenience, including the throttle, throttle friction control, shift lever, key switch, stop switch, power trim and tilt switch (PT&T models only) and Variable Trolling RPM Switch (VTS®).
A 45-degree steering angle in each direction means great maneuvering potential.
A new compact power trim and tilt unit on the F25 helps keep the weight down and provides -4° through +16° of trim to help get the boat out of the hole fast, bring the bow of the boat up for the best top speed and provide a smooth ride.
The new, F25 four-stroke—like all Yamaha Portables—is California Air Resources Board (C.A.R.B.) Three-Star Rated for Ultra-Low Emissions. This also meets federal EPA requirements.
Yamaha’s Shallow Water Drive helps keep the propeller and lower unit out of harm’s way in shallow water.
A Freshwater Flush Device allows you to flush the engine without starting it, for maximum convenience, durability and engine life.
The F25 features a wide-span mounting system, providing strength and minimizing vibration for a smooth run.
The F25 is now Y-COP® compatible. This optional security feature disables the ignition system via an operator-controlled key FOB.
The F25 uses a pressurized oil delivery system and incorporates a compact and durable oil pump to keep all of the moving parts of the SOHC system lubricated and running smoothly for maximum reliability.
Our 432-cc 25-hp portable outboard sports a new, streamlined, portable design and class-leading power-to-weight. In fact, it’s the lightest 25-hp outboard on the water—two-stroke or four-stroke. While its streamlined design is 25 percent lighter, it still packs exciting features like battery-less EFI. Pull-start models can now take advantage of this feature, plus the system is designed with an automatic decompression device to require even less effort for manual starting.
*Weight refers to shortest shaft length, and is measured without motor oil, gearcase oil and propeller (except models 25 hp and under, which include a standard propeller). All Jet model weights include the jet pump assembly (weight estimated).
