Yamaha Marine Group Launches First Mobile App

Kennesaw, Ga., February 9, 2012 –Yamaha Marine Group announced today the launch of its first mobile application for the iPhone® and iPod Touch®, just in time for the Miami International Boat Show.® The app is now available free of charge through the iTunes® App Store and offers users a host of valuable tools and information about their Yamaha outboards. Additional information about the app is also available through this online video.  

“When we sat down to design this app, we had several main objectives in mind,” said Todd Grondzki, Assistant Department Manager, Advertising. “We wanted to develop an app that provided real value, not only for our customers, but for our dealers and boat builders as well. We also wanted this app to help drive traffic to Yamaha dealerships and serve as another means of customer communication, giving consumers one more reason to buy Yamaha.”

The new app features four main areas: “My Yamaha,” “Dealers,” “Performance Bulletins,” and “Stay Hooked.”

My Yamaha

The “My Yamaha” section of the app provides customers real-time information about their personal Yamaha outboards. Within this area, the customer can add the PID number for each outboard he or she owns, and information about their outboard(s) will be automatically generated. Information provided in this section includes each outboard’s model number, PID number, factory warranty start and expiration dates as well as Y.E.S. contract expiration dates. The app even includes a warranty countdown clock and encourages consumers to purchase a Y.E.S. contract as their factory warranty nears expiration. The “My Yamaha” section also uses the outboard PID to generate information about customers’ boats including the brand, hull ID and length.

In addition, the “My Yamaha” section of the app features an interactive “Break-In” chart, which allows users to log their break-in hours and keep track of where they are in the process. The app walks the customer through each step of the break-in process and automatically moves to the next step until the break-in procedure is complete.

Performance Bulletins

Just as they are available through the Yamaha Marine web site, performance bulletins featuring various boat models and Yamaha outboards are also available through the new app. Users can search for performance bulletins by indicating technology, horsepower, boat type and boat manufacturer. They can then view the performance bulletins matching their search criteria, and email or bookmark those bulletins as they so choose.


The “Dealers” feature allows the user to store information about his or her particular dealership as well as search for Yamaha dealerships in any area of the country.

The “Dealers” section contains information on every dealership in the Yamaha database including contact information, maps, hours of operation, products and services and certifications.

Stay Hooked

The “Stay Hooked” section of the app allows users to link to and interact with Yamaha social media outlets, and also includes a list of frequently asked questions and answers.

The new Yamaha mobile app is now available through the iTunes App Store.
