FAQs

Yes. You can add as many boats as you like. Outboards are limited to a maximum of five per boat.
Yes. You can enter and save DIY maintenance. Yes, it becomes part of your maintenance history.
My Yamaha Outboards notifies you in advance of any service is that is due. It does not schedule the service. It does however track your maintenance history and allow you to add your own maintenance events. Also, your dealer will be notified when you need service. 
Yes. Besides scheduled maintenance it alerts you to check in with your dealer service department for new or outstanding service campaigns.
Once a record of service history has been started, you can see a complete history of these warranty registered Yamaha outboards you have owned and recorded maintenance for by logging into the My Yamaha Outboards App or web-based platform*.
From the MyYamahaOutboards.com only, you can share your maintenance records with a potential future owner. This is a great opportunity to enhance your outboards value in the eyes of that buyer.
To learn how to do this, please see visit the Notifications Center inside your account. Select the date of the service you would like to change, select a new date to be notified and select the Snooze option.
You can opt out of the My Yamaha Outboards program by simply deleting the App. However, you will still receive maintenance reminders unless you choose to opt out of them via email or text.
Use the opt-out link on any email you receive from Yamaha. You may also contact the dealer to opt out of further notifications under the My Yamaha Outboards program.
Under the My Yamaha Outboards program, Yamaha will use your warranty registration information to send initial and interval service reminders about your outboard motor, unless you have chosen to opt out of communications.
Yamaha will remind owners of Yamaha outboards before service is due via the email address you provided at the time of warranty registration and purchase at your Yamaha outboard dealer. The reminders will also be visible through the app and the web-based platform.
The My Yamaha Outboards mobile App and web portal are primarily for owners of Yamaha outboards. Customers that do not own a Yamaha outboard can create an account but will have limited functionality.
Yes. My Yamaha Outboards is designed to provide flexibility. It goes where you go. You can select and assign a different dealer for every boat in your account.
Yes. The App can support multiple boats all in one account.
Yes. You will be doing is called “claiming” this outboard in the app/web portal. Simply use the App or portal to input your outboard’s and boat’s required information and set up your account. If your outboard has warranty time remaining, then you will need to have your local authorized Yamaha outboard dealer transfer the unit into your name and then you can add the unit in the App or portal. If no warranty is remaining on the unit you will not need to consult the dealer. Simply claiming the unit is all that is required.
Yes. The app also provides a resources section with complete Owner’s Manuals, instructional videos and other valuable information including how to break in your outboard.
No. The system notifies you when your outboard is ready for service.  You will need to contact the dealer for a service appointment.
Yes. There may be a lapse in recorded maintenance depending on how you were managing this process. If an authorized Yamaha dealer was servicing and recording the maintenance during the opt out period then you will be able to retrieve a complete maintenance history. If service was not recorded by an authorized Yamaha dealer during this period then there will be a gap in the history. You can go back and record the service as DIY to have some record of completed service during this time. Yamaha advises that once a customer begins to record maintenance history on any boat or outboard, they continue to keep this record without any interruption.
Yes. An owner or dealer can snooze a service reminder at any time to a future date. At a minimum your outboard should be serviced as directed in your owner’s manual at regular intervals either annually or at 100-hour intervals up to 500 hours.
Outboard motors sold after January 1, 2019 will automatically be enrolled in the My Yamaha Outboards program and will be recognized by the Yamaha Warranty Registration System. Owners of outboards sold before this date can enroll outboards through their authorized Yamaha Outboard dealer. If your outboard was sold after January 1, 2019 and you cannot add your outboard with the App or Web portal, please contact your selling Yamaha outboard dealer to be sure it has been properly warranty registered. Any four-stroke outboard with a manufacturer date 2006 or newer is eligible to have a My Yamaha Outboards account.
You will need a Primary ID Number (PID) and a valid email address. Also, your PID information must be registered in the system and the outboard warranty registered. If you cannot register your PID for any reason, please contact your dealer for assistance. Only a dealer can register your outboard’s PID if it is not already registered and listed in the database.
When Yamaha customers download the My Yamaha Outboards App or access the web-based portal, they can:
  • Tracks all essential outboard maintenance in one convenient place after dealer completed maintenance and allows boaters to enter their own DIY maintenance
  • Provides notifications for upcoming maintenance and service campaigns
  • Keeps a complete maintenance history which can enhance the value of their outboard when selling or trading in
  • Allow boaters to record future or past boating trips and review important boating checklists
  • Connects users to a Yamaha dealer locator where they can save a dealer to their profile
  • Easily find owners’ manuals, an owner’s video library and other helpful information and resources
  • Provides updates about new products, promotions and upcoming events
Most importantly, keeping a complete maintenance history can build confidence in an outboard and potentially increase resale values for customers.
Yes. You can enter the information for a new boat, or remove a boat you no longer own, but the maintenance record you created remains related to the PID(s) on that boat. You can remove an outboard(s) from a boat and add a new outboard(s) to the same boat, as in a repower situation. Once repowered you would begin to log the maintenance history of the new outboard(s) if properly warranty registered.
No. The My Yamaha Outboards mobile app and web portal are solely for owners of Yamaha outboards.
My Yamaha Outboards is an all-new web portal and mobile app that gives Yamaha outboard owners an account-based view of all recorded maintenance history while providing additional notifications about upcoming key maintenance intervals.
My Yamaha Outboards is available as a browser-based desktop portal optimized for Microsoft Chrome and a mobile app available for Apple and Android devices.
Yamaha collects warranty registration information for every new outboard sold through an authorized Yamaha outboard selling dealer. Yamaha is required to obtain this registration information to communicate recall information to you as may be necessary and generally to alert you of important safety and operational information about your Yamaha outboard. As part of this warranty registration process, Yamaha collects contact information from you in the form of owner’s name, address, phone number and email address in the event either Yamaha or a dealer needs to contact you for the above purposes. The warranty registration information that Yamaha collects is provided by authorized Yamaha dealers, via the owners themselves, at the time of purchase.
No. The system will remember your owner information. Simply enter your email and password to enter your account.
